Chinese shipbuilder delivers world’s largest container vessel
Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co Ltd., built and recently delivered a vessel with a capacity of 24,116 TEUs “MSC Tessa” to Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), making the record as World’s Largest Container Ship.
The newbuild vessel is 399.99 meters in length and 61.5 meters wide is considered as world’s largest container ship by capacity, according to Hudong-Zhonghua, a unit of the World’s Largest Shipbuilding Company, China State Shipbuilding Corp (CSSC).
Designed by Hudong-Zhonghua, the newbuild vessel boasts combination some of features, including being environmentally friendly, highly efficient, low in energy consumption, while scoring high on safety.
Upon delivery to the shipowner, Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A., the ship will operate on the route between Asia and Europe, according to Gu Lijun, director engineer at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding.
