Knutsen LNG France received a new ship ‘Extremadura Knutsen’

Knutsen LNG France has announced that the company has taken delivery of newbuild vessel ‘Extremadura Knutsen’. The vessel is built by the Korean Shipyards Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. She is the 5th vessel for Knutsen LNG France, part of Knutsen Group.

‘Extremadura Knutsen’ is a LNG Tanker and sailing under the flag of France.Her carrying capacity is 83742 t DWT and her current draught is reported to be 9.2 meters.

Knutsen OAS Shipping entered the LNG market after delivery of the first LNG carrier in 2004.

The first 138 400 m3 LNG carrier was built in Spain with steam turbine propulsion. During 2010 Knutsen took delivery of four vessels from DSME in Korea all with tri-fuel diesel-electric engines and a capacity of 173 400 m3. All vessels delivered in the period after 2016 have with ME-GI engines. Two 176 300 m3 LNG carriers were delivered in 2016, and three 180 000 m3 LNG carriers delivered in 2019/2020 all with ME-GI propulsion and full reliquifaction capacity. Knutsen took delivery of a 30 000 m3 LNG carrier with XDF propulsion in Q1 2021.
